This is my newest course, but it has already gotten some awesome results!
Susan M.:
"I've only completed four lessons and already it has helped me on a piece for orchestra with some advanced rhythms that I would not have been able to count correctly before this course!
The best thing, so far, about True Rhythm Mastery, is how in depth it goes with identifying where the beats are and how to "read" the different rhythms so they all fit into the larger picture.
I've started at least two other different rhythm courses and they were all right, but just touched on how to count different rhythms. This is fine, but neither really helped me with the harder pieces I was trying to learn.
I am excited to finish the course and learn even more things that I never knew I didn't know! This will be so helpful in deciphering future pieces of music and really doing them justice."
Iris Roberts:
"Rhythm is one of the important components of music that is easy to “feel,” but more difficult to interpret and then play from a printed page of music. The good “sight readers” can do this, but some of the rest of us struggle—even though we can (mostly) play lovely notes and our fingers work fine!
Josh has seen this “opportunity for improvement” often among his students so he compiled this great, new, comprehensive course—which everyone should at least take a look at!
The comprehensive organization that begins with the right foundation provides one the opportunity to focus on any areas unique to one’s needs, but it is probably best used from the beginning. By starting from the beginning, I really began to “see” the things that I did not realize were holding me back!!!. Bingo! Lights went on!
Now these “voids” have become areas of focus in my practice, my opportunities for improvement, and this focused practice is yielding more improvement and faster improvement than I thought possible. I do practice lots, however. You can’t just buy this course and expect results without doing the work! But, it’s a great feeling to know exactly where your opportunities are!!!"
Hiedi:
"Playing my clarinet is a real passion. Rhythm must have been OK early on doing exams, but then as I played just for the joy of it, I was less disciplined - too fluid - or “beautiful but too melodic“ as my Fanfare Director used to say. So, for the last year I have made it a priority. I started by learning the rhythm tree counting, 1+,2+,3e+a,4-trip-let etc. and tapping my big toe. Amazingly, I have never had a subdivision counting system before!
Then, I had a class with Josh Goo. The piece was full of push and pull on the tempo, which I found difficult to do. Not anymore though! Josh mentioned leading to the beat which is a core principle in True Rhythm Mastery. I admire that Josh is unrelinquishing on the priority of the predictable beat. Leading to the beat now helps me keep the rhythm predictable and accurate, and also helps me bring more musicality to the phrase.
So, I am studying the True Rhythm Mastery course to get my rhythm to be a strength. It takes investment, daily fun ball or satsuma, and conducting practice to build your rhythm tool bag, and a commitment to yourself that IT IS IMPORTANT.
It is working for me…I am feeling the beat more reliably...push and pull is not so scary anymore. I believe I will become a True Rhythm Master!"
What's in the course?
1. 50+ Videos
2. The True Rhythm Mastery System
3. 3 Implementation Guides for custom pacing
4. 50 page digital Workbook with examples
5. 5 Useful Bonus Lessons
6. My full support in helping you master rhythm!
Those are the actual components. They are neatly housed in your online Members Area, and organized into 3 modules that lay the information out in the right order for the best results.
Module 1: The Two Keys to Rhythm
This contains the foundation for building your rhythm 'talent' with exercises that help you to really get a good grasp of the context of the steady beat.
Module 2: Decoding the Notation
Counting and note values are still important, so this will fill in any gaps in actually reading the music. It will also give you a much deeper understanding than your average music class for how and why counting, time signatures, etc. work.
Module 3: The Worthwhile Work
This is where I reveal the full True Rhythm Mastery System and then we practice applying it to actual music examples in 12+ different time signatures.
Will this actually help me?
If you are asking this question, you have probably tried learning rhythm a dozen times before in lots of different ways, but still get called out by your teacher or in rehearsals...
Or maybe you have bought other rhythm courses, but never followed through to see the results.
True Rhythm Mastery has everything built in to help with this!
1. If you are doubting your abilities this course is exactly what you need, and I am going all-in this year to help the TRM students with an open door policy to ask any questions and even get one-on-one Zoom support if needed.
2. There are 3 different Implementation Guides in the course that keep you organized, and knowing exactly what to accomplish each day you work through the program. And there are 3 different ones, so you can make the course fit with your schedule whether you want to binge it or take little bites each day. This makes it super easy to make sure you actually put the course into practice and get the results!
Is this only for clarinetists or classical musicians?
This course is instrument agnostic, but it is mainly geared toward "classical" musicians.
If you read rhythms on sheet music then this will be great for you. However, if you play by ear, play off tabs, or any other non-traditional written rhythms, then the first module may be helpful for having a better pulse and interacting with the steady beat, but the majority of the course won't really apply to you.
I have more questions...
No problem at all!
